Spanish Vocabulary – Wandering Around the House

As I mentioned, I’ve done the work of choosing which vocabulary words you should focus on as you get started.  The very first words you’ll study all the meet the following criteria:

1.  They are common words. (Duh! I know.)
2.  The words represent tangible things.  In other words, stuff you can touch.
3.  They are easy to visualize, or draw, or find a picture of the item.

For example, something like a vertical lifting wedge (a tool used in the oil and gas industry) would not be included in the list.  Although you can touch it and even find a picture of it, it’s not included because it’s not common and would be hard to visualize unless you worked in the oil and gas industry.

We’ll first focus on tangible, easily visualized terms because they are the easiest to remember.  When you can create a word/picture association, your brain has an easier time recalling it.

You can find the link to the flashcards for this vocabulary list here: http://sillyspanish.com/flashcards

Remember, it’s important to write down the words and their meanings the first time you see them.  Use the list here to copy them down in a journal or on physical flashcards and then use the electronic flashcards I’ve provided to regularly study and quiz yourself.
